The Bittersweet Pill of Politics is a catalogue of painstakingly presented anecdotes of a woman whose love for her sons blinds her to endanger herself in many ways and exposes her to experiences which can be described as man's inhumanity to man. She remembers early in life that the natural state of motherhood is unselfishness and that when one becomes a mother, one is no longer the center of her universe but relinquishes that position to her children. The book also succinctly explores the love between a brother and a sister and serves as a conduit for the sister to join the political terrain to keep her brother's legacy alive and also contribute her quota to the growth and development of the political tradition her brothers and others strived to establish and Ghana as a country on the African continent.
